# To: US From: AIRBORNE (message from Lt-Gen F. A. M. Browning to airborne equipment workers)

A pale Pegasus-and-rider emblem sits above a printed letter from the Airborne commander thanking the workers who made parachute and glider equipment. The signed commander's praise is a testimonial, and the claim that workers share the success 'in equal measure' with the troops transfers the soldiers' prestige to the factory.

TO ALL THOSE WHO HAVE BEEN IN ANY WAY CONNECTED WITH THE PRODUCTION OF AIRBORNE EQUIPMENT.

Without the great force of parachutists and gliders, carrying first-rate armament, which were landed during the first stage of the attack, the left and vital flank of this great assault could not have been secured, the bridges over the River Orne would not have been captured intact, and more than two German Divisions would not have been closely engaged by the 6th Airborne Division and had heavy casualties inflicted on them.

I want all those who organised production, designed, made (and modified) our equipment, to know that they share in the successes which have been achieved, in equal measure with the men of the Airborne Forces.

Further, I am most anxious that everyone concerned should realise what a great debt of gratitude we, the Airborne Troops, owe them; and that we shall go forward, all together, in the future production and development of this formidable new method of warfare until final victory is won.

we made

F. A. M. BROWNING
Lieutenant-General,
Commander Airborne Troops
