# Tribute to You - Halifax Bulletin No. 13

An RAF roundel rosette and a photograph of a Halifax bomber head a Ministry of Aircraft Production bulletin telling how one damaged aircraft returned from Mulheim and was credited as 'a victory indeed for men, machine and makers'. The rosette lends the airmen's standing to the factory workers (transfer), and a single survival story stands for the whole (card-stacking).

TRIBUTE TO YOU

HALIFAX BULLETIN No. 13
Two engines blazing, inter-com severed, tanks holed and two empty-A Halifax turned homeward from Mulheim.
Feathered propellers extinguished the fires, but on reaching the coast height had dropped to 3,000 feet.
Everything removable was jettisoned-even the mid-upper turret.
Suddenly a Messerschmitt attacked, riddling the rear turret and ammo-belts...the gunner got two guns working and smashed it into the sea. Only 500 feet above water, the Halifax struggled on. Despite a jammed undercarriage, it landed safe in England, a victory indeed for men, machine and makers.
MINISTRY OF AIRCRAFT PRODUCTION.
