# Women are Winning the War of Production

A colour photograph shows a woman in a headscarf tending a furnace at a press stamped 'Lucas Patents', with a Union Jack 'For Freedom' emblem. The tell is the selected figures, 'over one-third' of women in industry and tolerance of 'one two-thousandth of an inch', with no baseline, date or source, and 'munitions production goes steadily up' with no totals.

```
WOMEN ARE WINNING
THE WAR OF PRODUCTION
OVER ONE-THIRD of the women of Britain are now employed as full-time workers in industry. To-day they are vital to Britain's vast war weapons output. Women are turning steel parts of aircraft engines to an accuracy of one two-thousandth of an inch. Like lightning their deft fingers machine precision instruments, fill bombs, operate fast-turning lathes. With more skilled women working every month Britain's munitions production goes steadily up.
FOR FREEDOM
