# Hon. Elie Lescot - President of Haiti (undated, c. 1942-1945, OWI)

Undated: NARA gives no date; c. 1942-1945 from the OWI series. A drawn page with a large portrait of Haitian President Elie Lescot and panels showing him speaking in a legislature and entering a building as minister to the US, plus a map of Haiti and the Dominican Republic. The technique is a weak fit: transfer, presenting Haiti's wartime alignment with the United Nations through a respected leader.

```
Always interested in the affairs of his country, Lescot was elected to the Haitian Legislature at the age of 27.
Hon. ÉLIE LESCOT
PRESIDENT OF HAITI
As Minister to the U.S., M. Lescot was a familiar figure in pre-war Washington.
Because of her strategic position in the Caribbean, Haiti was courted by the Axis. However, she turned a deaf ear to these overtures, and joined forces with the United Nations.
