# 'L'avion de combat le plus rapide du monde' [The Fastest Fighting Plane in the World] (World's Fastest Fighting Plane [French])

A photograph of a twin-boom US fighter in flight sits above a French text block, a US flag and a portrait of President Roosevelt, inside a blue border of stars. The flag and president's portrait attach national authority to the aircraft (transfer), and the text offers a superlative speed claim and production figures with no counter-figures (card-stacking).

```
L'AVION DE COMBAT LE
PLUS RAPIDE DU MONDE
Le nouvel avion de chasse américain est lourdement armé
et peut faire plus de 725 kilomètres à l'heure en vol hori-
zontal. Ses possibilités d'évolution à de hautes altitudes
en font un des avions les plus importants qui aient été
créés durant la guerre. Les Etats-Unis ont plus que doublé
leurs usines d'aviation et sont en voie de constituer une
force aérienne formidable. La politique nationale de
l'Amérique, d'accord avec la volonté du peuple, est de
rendre impossible le triomphe des pays aggresseurs.
LE PRÉSIDENT ROOSEVELT
```
THE FASTEST FIGHTING PLANE IN THE WORLD

The new American fighter plane is heavily armed and can do more than 725 kilometres an hour in level flight. Its manoeuvring capability at high altitudes makes it one of the most important aircraft created during the war. The United States has more than doubled its aircraft factories and is on the way to building a formidable air force. America's national policy, in accord with the will of the people, is to make the triumph of the aggressor nations impossible.

PRESIDENT ROOSEVELT
