```
U.S.A. IN ACTION
TOUGH GOING at Tarawa in the Gilberts finds the Marines blasting out Nips with a 75 mm. pack howitzer. Note holes where bullet went through helmet on Marine standing over gun!
GET A HORSE! Man's best friend comes into his own again in Italy as a mode of transporting supplies for a mountain division. In this campaign the supply problem is extraordinarily difficult.
U. S. ARMY
OFFICIAL POSTER
(Right) "JOIN YOUR ANCESTORS!" says a portable flame thrower at Munda, clearing out a nest of Japs who won't surrender. This equipment has proved its worth thousands of times against bunkers and pillboxes in the dense jungle.
(Left) CAVEMEN OF TODAY. These Signal Corps men keep the messages flowing from a switchboard established deep in a natural air raid shelter - a cave in the Southwest Pacific area (note rock formation overhead).
(Right) DEPOT, ICELAND STYLE. This well-ordered supply room of a base hospital just below the Arctic Circle would do credit to any metropolitan establishment in the U. S. It's almost a pleasure to be sick here!
Invasion success depends on SUPPLIES!
