# U.S.A. in Action: Our troops count on you, soldiers of supply

Photo-montage poster from the 'U.S.A. in Action' series for supply-depot workers: a mess sergeant cooking pancakes in a bombed kitchen, Italian prisoners receiving water through barbed wire, a signal truck, a jeep and depot loading scenes, each with a short caption. The tell is the red band 'Our troops count on you, soldiers of supply!' and captions that tie each depot job to the troops at the front.

U.S.A. IN ACTION
OFFICIAL PICTURES FROM WORLD BATTLEFRONTS

RIGHT IN DER FUEHRER'S KITCHEN! (At right) An American mess sergeant prepares a home-style breakfast in the bombed kitchen of the former German Consulate Building in a North African city. The kitchen may be by courtesy of the enemy, but the makin's for those wheat cakes are strictly "made in U.S.A." (Above) Worker at a Quartermaster Depot here at home loads sacks of sugar for overseas shipment. Napoleon said an army marches on its stomach—and the Quartermaster Corps is doing its part in keeping our boys moving forward. Delay at a Depot would mean hungry men at the front!

GLAD IT'S OVER! (Top, above) Italian prisoners gratefully line up behind good old American barbed wire to receive water from the Yanks who captured them. Stringing wire for this use is one of the pleasantest tasks of the Army Engineers, who'll be glad to oblige any number of Il Duce's followers. (Above, right) Coils of barbed wire being loaded into train at an Engineer Depot in the U. S. A. Note efficient use of pallet and fork truck—real time-savers where rush shipments and convoy departure dates must be met. Wire is only one of many thousands of items the Engineers use constantly.

MESSAGE CENTER. (Above) Somewhere in North Africa a mobile transmitter operated by the Signal Corps links headquarters to the fighting front. This ultra-modern equipment keeps pace with the swift changes of warfare, constantly maintaining communications. (At right) Signal Depot workers load another transmitter truck into boxcar. It'll soon be on shipboard, bound for active service.

JEEP GETS WET FEET! (Above) This jeep and other equipment got a surprise ducking when the landing boat bringing them ashore in the North African campaign was capsized in shallow water. But the Ordnance maintenance men will have it ready again for action in no time. (At left) Long lines of jeeps move through the Preparation Unit at Ft. Wayne Ordnance Depot under the critical eye of factory-trained inspectors. These girl drivers will convoy the vehicles to the R.R. loading docks, starting them on the long trek overseas.
