# U.S.A. in Action: Our troops count on you, soldiers of supply (landing and supply scenes)

Photo-montage poster from the 'U.S.A. in Action' series: an amphibious truck unloading on a beach, a transport at night, men eating C rations, litter-bearers with a jeep, and men rolling a steel mat on sand, each with a short caption. The tell is the green band 'Our troops count on you, soldiers of supply!' and captions that tie each supply job to the troops at the front.

U.S.A. IN ACTION
OFFICIAL PICTURES FROM WORLD BATTLEFRONTS

ALL NIGHT LONG the winches grind, as a U. S. transport—one link in the endless chain between depot and fighting front—loads cargo at an Australian port. All over the world, Transportation Corps men on land and sea are working to keep supplies moving up to the far-flung fighting lines.

"QUICK, EVERYBODY! GRAB HOLD!" Supplies from home depots have their ups and downs on the way to the front. This "Duck" amphibian truck, unloading a Higgins boat during the Sicily landings, nearly got up-ended by its own ambition. In this picture a quick-thinking, fast-jumping squad is bringing the front end back to earth again.

"EASY BUD! EASY!" (Above) Wounded men must be carried gently, jarred as little as possible. Here litter-bearers carry a casualty to an ambulance-jeep somewhere in New Georgia. Notice the mud-caked skid-chains and the shovel on the jeep. It's rough going out there, but the little cars take it carefully, get their passengers back promptly to skilled medical attention and needed medical supplies.

AIR MAIL CHOW (Left) The "C" ration, dropped from planes to the men of this hillside outpost in the Southwest Pacific, has taken a beating as it fell. (Note the dents in the cans.) No mess-kits here, no knives or forks. Men travel light! Even cartons and boxes came in handy for firewood.

"ROLL HER OUT!" This—among other places—is where those steel mats go. Working swiftly on the morning of the landing in Sicily, American shore guards lay out a roadway to get heavy vehicles through the soft sand. Engineer materiel is one of the most important classes of supply in landing on a hostile shore. Smaller picture shows Lt. Gen. George S. Patton, Jr., walking up on another mat roadway from the Sicilian beach. The General's successful campaign owed much to a superb supply service.
