# Victory Bonds will help stop this. Kultur vs. humanity (Canada)

A uniformed man swims with a Red Cross nurse held against his chest, shaking his fist at a surfacing submarine, beside a lifebuoy lettered for the hospital ship Llandovery Castle. The slogan sets 'Kultur', the wartime label for German civilisation, against 'humanity' (name-calling), and borrows the Red Cross emblem and a drowned nurse to attach the sinking's outrage to the purchase of bonds.
