# Vietnam Fights and Builds, No. 1 (July 1964), cover

The colour cover of the first issue of an English-language government magazine shows three soldiers in flower garlands on a camouflaged armoured personnel carrier, reaching down to a small child held up by a woman in a headscarf, under the title 'Vietnam Fights and Builds'. The tell: garlands, a child and smiling soldiers attach civilian welcome to military hardware, and the title pairs 'fights' with 'builds'.
