# Y-học phục-vụ nhân-sinh (A Medical Study of Service to the People)

A Vietnamese-language poster (code SP-1993) tells the case of Duong Van Dung, a local-force soldier wounded on an operation, who lost a leg, was fitted with a prosthesis by a U.S. surgical team at Kien Giang provincial hospital and left on 14 May 1967. Two photographs show him seated on a hospital bed and then standing. The tell is a single named patient used to vouch for the whole programme, with a closing line that his cheerful face strengthens public faith in modern medicine.

MEDICINE SERVING HUMAN LIFE

Thanks to modern surgical methods and the devoted service of the American surgical team, many victims gravely wounded by the Communists' scheme of aggression have been saved and treated. Take the case of Mr. Duong Van Dung, who had a leg sawn off; within only 2 months he recovered and was fitted with an artificial leg, and still walks and stands like a healthy person. If people unfortunate enough to fall into this situation are quickly brought to the Pho-Dieu Kien-Giang hospital, they are treated free of charge.

Mr. Duong Van Dung, a soldier of the Regional Force of Kien-Giang Sector, was wounded in an operation to destroy the enemy and was admitted for treatment at the Pho-Dieu hospital on 12.3.67. Although disabled, he is still healthy.

Thanks to a scientific method of fitting the leg, with skilled specialists, he can now walk easily. And on 14.5.67 he left the hospital and returned to his family.

...Seeing Mr. Dung's cheerful face above makes everyone's faith in present-day medical treatment grow stronger.

Translation is FRAME's own literal rendering. 'Phó-Điều' is a place or hospital name, left as printed; 'khỏi tốn tiền' is rendered 'free of charge' (literally 'without costing money'). The sheet prints both 'bị thương' and 'bịnh viện' spellings as shown.
