**Content note:** A 1920 book that ranks peoples by race and argues for keeping "white world-supremacy"; it uses period racial terms and stereotypes throughout, and its introduction by Madison Grant endorses the same views. This object is shown as it was published. [Why](https://propagandaarchive.org/about/#as-it-was)

Lothrop Stoddard's 1920 book, which sets out its thesis in its title: that peoples it classes as non-white were rising against the political dominance ("world-supremacy") of those it classes as white. It was published by Scribner's in New York in April 1920 and reprinted several times that year and the next. It is hosted as it was published, in full, as a primary source for the racial-science and immigration arguments of its period, with a content note; hosting it is not endorsing it.

The volume carries an introduction by Madison Grant, author of *The Passing of the Great Race* (1916). Grant's introduction endorses Stoddard's argument and adds Grant's own racial scheme, so it is the writing of an advocate of the same views, not a neutral editor's note. It is kept, with its heading, so the edition is shown as it was.
