"Jackson ticket" with Hickory tree motto, Baltimore (1828)
Small printed election ticket headed JACKSON TICKET over a woodcut tree and the couplet "Firm united let us be, Rallying round our Hickory tree", with two names for the Assembly. The rally verse ('Firm united let us be, Rallying round') is the bandwagon tell; the transfer tell is the hickory tree, which stands for Jackson's nickname Old Hickory and lends the symbol's associations to the ticket. The scan includes the library's ruler.
