Thư xuân gửi các bạn cán binh bên kia chiến tuyến (Spring letter to the cadres and soldiers on the other side of the front line), Colonel Lê Trí Tín, Quang Nam
A two-sided cream-paper Tet letter, headed by a blue panel with a flowering branch and vase, is signed by the Quang Nam province chief and addressed to 'comrade cadres and soldiers on the other side of the front'. The tell: it cites 'over 140,000' former comrades who have returned with weapons and enjoy the Spring festival, and its last line says the letter itself replaces a safe-conduct pass.

[Side 1] FROM COLONEL PROVINCE CHIEF, SECTOR COMMANDER AND CHAIRMAN OF THE CHIEU-HOI COMMITTEE Quang-Nam Province HEY, YOU CADRES AND SOLDIERS ON THE OTHER SIDE OF THE FRONT LINE. Dear friend, Once again a new spring returns to the beloved homeland. As we gather with our relatives in the great family of the Nation, in the sacred hour of the Country, our hearts still think of you sincerely. Over the past year, so many events on the political stage have been tied to your fate. The political dispute in the North after the day Ho passed away, the change of leadership in the Central Office for the South, [Side 2] the admissions of miserable defeat on all battlefields in resolution number 9 were proof of the decline of the Communists. The National Just Cause shines ever brighter. The war full of crimes, of which you are a victim, has reached the point of despair, [illegible] you keep being infatuated with [illegible] in guilt, keep drifting through the rest of your life in hardship, while on this side we, your father, mother, wife and children, wait for you. Our good will for peace is very clear; the policy of Great National Unity is the only way out for you, and through it the war will end sooner. More than 140,000 people from the other side, comrades of yours, have already come back to us bringing tens of thousands of weapons of all kinds. They are enjoying a full and meaningful Spring beside their flesh-and-blood relatives. What are you still hesitating for? With all our [illegible] affection, our closeness within the Great National Family, we await your return to this side, with the same will to continue the struggle for the ideal of Freedom and for the peace and prosperity of the Country. COLONEL LE-TRI-TIN This letter replaces a safe-conduct pass. Holding this letter, when you report to rally, you will be received warmly and treated kindly.
Side 2 is read from a separate Commons image, and the type is small and low-resolution: words marked [illegible] could not be read, and 'bà con' (relatives) and 'đoạn đời' are best readings. The blue panel (flowering branch and vase) carries no text; a printed code 'S-40' is omitted. Translation is FRAME's own literal rendering, machine-assisted and not verified by a fluent reader.
