Arirang Mass Games: card-mosaic backdrop, Rungnado May Day Stadium (photographed 2008)
A photograph from the Arirang Mass Games, Rungnado May Day Stadium, Pyongyang, 24 September 2008: ranks of performers in white martial-arts uniforms drill in unison on the floor beneath a card-stunt backdrop of two smiling figures with raised fists. The tell is identity fusion by scale: floor drill and card mosaic together make thousands of people read as one coordinated body, with the poster-style fists and smiles as its slogan-free message.
