True democracy is safe! (Puck)
Puck cover by Charles Jay Taylor, 30 September 1896: a 'Sound Money Democrat' raises his hat beside a banner with portraits of John M. Palmer (for President) and Simon B. Buckner (for Vice-President) of the National Democratic ticket. Caption: 'We may not elect our ticket this time, but we've put the party in shape for 1900.' The title claims the party's name and legitimacy for the Palmer ticket.
