Colour lithograph of a begging poodle in a ruff with the bespectacled, moustached head of the French foreign minister, Théophile Delcassé, under the pun 'Del-Lâchoda' and the line 'before England, 11 December 1898'. The name-calling tell is the animal body and the coined nickname (lâche, 'coward'), which brand the withdrawal from Fashoda as a craven submission.

Imprint line at the foot is very small; the street number and name are read as printed but may be slightly misread. 'Del-Lâchoda' plays on Delcassé, Fashoda and lâche (coward); the translation renders the pun approximately.
