Content note: 1868 print with a Native American caricature of Tammany. This object is shown as it was published. Why
The Great American Tanner
Pro-Grant cartoon. Grant, in a tanner's apron, says he will 'finish' Horatio Seymour and Francis P. Blair 'early in November'; a figure in Native American dress labelled Tammany holds Seymour, and a second group of Confederate officers (Lee, Pemberton, Buckner) say Grant has already 'tanned' their hides. The Democratic ticket is pictured alongside Tammany Hall and former Confederate commanders.
