How Steel Is Made, 1941 US poster: Scrap-drive sheet

How Steel Is Made

Scrap-drive sheet: a central panel series shows steelmaking steps, ringed by drawings of household objects (flatiron, lawn mower, kettle) paired with weapons they are said to yield. The footer states that half of every tank, gun, ship and submarine is made from scrap steel. The technique is faint: everyday items stand in for the donor's own household.
