'Attention! The border with Poland is heavily guarded' (Polish Interior Ministry notice for migrants, Arabic)
The Arabic-language version of a notice that Poland's Interior Ministry posted for migrants at the Belarusian border, reached by a text message sent to foreign phones in the border zone. It lists prison for illegal crossing, a state of emergency, weather that 'may end tragically', a warning that pills given in Belarus 'may be poison' and the refrain 'Do not risk it! Go back to Minsk!' The tell: legal notice and physical danger are packed into one command, with a single safe course named, going back.

Attention! Poland's border with Belarus is heavily guarded. Crossing the border illegally and destroying border security measures may result in imprisonment. You are now close to the Polish-Belarusian border. Illegal border crossing is a crime that will be met with an adequate response from Polish authorities. For your own safety, observe the following instructions: • Poland has introduced a state of emergency. The border is heavily guarded! Any attempt at illegal crossing may result in criminal sanctions. It is a crime punishable by imprisonment. • Situation at the border is being constantly monitored. Do not attempt to destroy the barbed-wire coils! It is punishable by law. • Crossing the Polish border will not help you reach Germany. • Worsening weather conditions may be dangerous to life and health. Any attempt at hiding and sleeping rough (outside, in the open) may end tragically. Do not risk it! Go back to Minsk! Go back home! Save your life and health! • Do not take any pills or medications given to you in Belarus. You may be poisoned! Do not take part in illegal border crossings organized by Belarus. It may be dangerous and is punishable by law. Protect your life and health!
