SEATO poster 177, flag ring (English, Bangkok)
A pale-blue SEATO poster showing the flags of the eight member states in a ring of olive sprigs around a circle of clasped hands. The slogan calls collective security the pathway to peace. The tell is glittering generalities and transfer: 'peace' and the image of joined hands are attached to a military alliance, while the flags of the United States, Britain, France, Australia, New Zealand, Pakistan, the Philippines and Thailand stand for a shared membership.
