Assad portraits on a traffic police motorcycle and shop windows, 2014 presidential election campaign (Damascus, May 2014)
A uniformed traffic policeman in a white shirt and helmet stands beside a white Suzuki police motorcycle on a city street. A portrait of a man in a dark suit is attached to the motorcycle's windscreen, and further portraits and flags fill the shop windows and facade behind him. The tell is the same face repeated on a state vehicle, in shop windows and on the building front, so that the portrait is present at every point of the street scene.
