Another Star joins that team in the sky
An elderly man in a bow tie sits on a ballpark bench with a tear on his cheek, a newspaper headed 'Nation's leaders join sports world in mourning over Griff's passing' on his lap and a scorecard at his feet, looking up at clouds on which the names Gehrig, Mathewson, Comiskey, McGraw, Johnson, Collins, Maranville, Ruth, Huggins and Alexander are written. The cartoon honours the dead by placing him among baseball figures in the sky. The technique tell is transfer: the glory of the named players is attached to the person being mourned.
