President Bush's Rose Garden statement on the situation, 2008 US photograph: George W. Bush, in a navy suit and maroon tie

President Bush's Rose Garden statement on the situation in Georgia (Washington, 11 August 2008)

George W. Bush, in a navy suit and maroon tie, speaks at a lectern bearing the presidential seal in the Rose Garden, with a US flag at the right edge. The tell is the wording of the statement the photograph records: Russian action called a 'dramatic and brutal escalation', an 'invasion' of a 'sovereign neighboring state' and 'unacceptable in the 21st century'.
