Old Customs and Costumes - Czechoslovakia
A landscape leaflet page with four photographs (couples in embroidered costume, a folk dance, a painted doorway, a man decorating a large pot) beside two paragraphs on rural life. The tell for glittering generalities is 'perhaps the most beautiful', and for card-stacking the selection of folk imagery alone to stand for the country.

Text on the object
OLD CUSTOMS AND COSTUMES Life in the country is simple and traditional. Old peasant arts and crafts have been preserved in many places to the present day ; peasant houses are often things of beauty. Songs, dances and costumes have been handed down from generation to generation and in the countryside many colourful costumes were to be seen on Sundays and feast days. Perhaps the most beautiful were seen in Slovakia and Southern Moravia. 8
