Foreword by Aruba's Lieutenant Governor for a Netherlands relief monthly, March 1945
Foreword page signed by the Lieutenant Governor of Aruba, urging readers to help 'het stervend volk van Nederland' (the dying people of the Netherlands) and quoting their cry 'HELPT ONS, HELPT ONS!'. It closes by contrasting the indifference of Cain ('am I my brother's keeper') with the mercy of the Good Samaritan, citing two Bible stories in the donation appeal.

I. Wagemaker Gezaghebber van Aruba.
ARUBA Monthly published for the benefit of the "ARUBA RELIEF FUND FOR THE NETHERLANDS" (Aruba Relief Fund for the Netherlands) Editorial and administration: General Printing Co., Zuidstraat s/n, Oranjestad, Aruba. Foreword I gladly comply with the publisher's request to introduce this paper to the public with a short word. Aware of the great distress in which our people find themselves, he considers it his duty to cooperate to the best of his ability in relieving it. He now tries to do so by distributing free an advertising paper for the trade. All initiative in this regard is greatly to be praised. And so a word of praise is due to him! May everyone whose interests can be served by the publication of this paper give their full cooperation to its success. May it also be an encouragement to everyone to give support and help, each in his own way, to the dying people of the Netherlands. Continually their cry of distress sounds toward us from overseas: HELP US, HELP US! Let us then be ready to help when the hour of help strikes. Let us not stand indifferent toward the great distress and the suffering endured in the Netherlands. Let Cain's indifference of: "am I my brother's keeper" not be ours, but rather the great compassion of the merciful Samaritan. I. Wagemaker Lieutenant Governor of Aruba.
Original spelling kept as printed (y for ij, e.g. 'by', 'zyn'). A stray mark before 'van' in the Cain line is not reproduced. Translation is a literal machine translation by Claude, not verified by a fluent reader.
