Cairo Governorate portrait boards of Sadat and Carter (1979)
Two painted welcome boards on a Cairo street, labelled 'Cairo Governorate' in Arabic and English: Sadat in full dress uniform with sash, baton and decorations beside a smiling, civilian-suited Carter, each on a green ground between Egyptian and American flags. The tell: the host's military-regalia portrait is set alongside the visiting president's, with matched flags, so the guest's prestige is borrowed for the host.

Only the two blue street signs carry text; the portraits themselves have none apart from a small illegible mark at the lower left of the Sadat board. The right-hand sign is partly cropped at the frame edge. Arabic translation is a machine translation by Claude, not verified by a fluent reader.
