Cry of Balintawak, August 26, 1896 poster (English, Manila)
A single-colour poster for the anniversary of the Cry of Balintawak, the August 1896 start of the Philippine revolution against Spain. A raised fist grips a bolo-style sword above a broken chain, with a flag bearing a sun and stars. A quotation urges 'Filipinos unite! Preserve the freedom - you have won!!' and the date is printed large. The tell is transfer and glittering generalities: the 1896 revolutionary legacy is attached to present national unity and the word 'freedom'.
