"25 Jahre antifaschistischer Schutzwall": Kampfappell parade, Karl-Marx-Allee, Berlin
A parade of uniformed units in steel helmets passes a red-draped reviewing stand on a Berlin boulevard. Behind the stand is a large white board showing the Brandenburg Gate and the GDR flag with the dates 1961 and 1986 and the words "25 Jahre antifaschistischer Schutzwall". Flags hang from the balconies of the apartment block. The wording gives a border fortification the name of a defence against fascism, and the anniversary board treats it as a milestone to be celebrated.
