Gemini wall poster, Amharic News in Pictures (Amharic poster distributed in Addis Ababa)
A photo-news poster headed 'News in Pictures' in Amharic on the first U.S. two-man Gemini 3 flight of 23 March 1965. Photographs and a schematic show the launch, the two astronauts, a view of Earth, the orbit changes, the sea recovery and President Johnson greeting the crew. The tell is transfer: the prestige of spaceflight achievement and of the President's handshake is attached to the United States. This is the Amharic version of the English sheet NAID 6949221.

NEWS IN PICTURES. U.S. astronauts have been able for the first time to change the direction of their spacecraft. [Body text and captions: Amharic rendering of the English sheet NAID 6949221 (Gemini 3, 23 March 1965: launch from Cape Kennedy, Grissom and Young, change of orbit, rescue sling, capsule hoisted aboard the carrier, President Johnson greeting the astronauts). Not transcribed word for word.]
Only the headline is transcribed; the body text is Ethiopic script too small to read reliably from the scan, so it is marked rather than guessed. The headline reading is the cataloguer's best reading of the scan.
