VICTORY IN DUC-HOA DISTRICT, HAU-NGHIA. During the operation of 5-1-1965 at 2 p.m., at Tram-Lac hamlet, 1 kilometre south-west of My-Hanh village, Duc-Hoa district, the militia under the command of District Chief Captain Ho-Van-Hiep, in coordination with 1 regular company of the 25th Division and supported by an M113 armoured vehicle, won a brilliant victory in a 15-minute firefight with 1 Viet Cong company. Captions: Brigadier General Nguyen Thanh Sang, commander of the 25th Infantry Division, pinning the Gallantry Cross with bronze star on the Duc-Hoa District Chief captain and the militia chief sergeant and 8 militiamen of My-Hanh post. Civilians, military and officials joyfully welcome the victorious troops. Captured: 12 weapons of various kinds, 3 grenades and documents. 6 Viet Cong captured alive. 35 Viet Cong killed on the spot.
