Text on the object
Nr. 220. Wtorek. Dnia 10 sierpnia 1920 roku. KURJER WARSZAWSKI Wydanie poranne. Konferencja w Hythe. Hythe 9-go sierpnia. (P. A. T.) — Havas. [...] Zagadka trudna do rozwiązania. Do broni! Pogotowie wojenne Ligi akademickiej obrony państwa wzywa wszystkie koleżanki medyczki [...] do stawienia się na zbiórkę we wtorek, d. 10 b. m., o godz. 6 wieczorem [...] Piotrków 8-go sierpnia. [...]
No. 220. Tuesday. 10 August 1920. KURJER WARSZAWSKI Morning edition. Conference in Hythe. Hythe, 9 August. (P.A.T.) — Havas. The heads of the English and French governments considered the consequences arising from the fact that the Soviets refused to conclude with the Polish army an armistice for ten days. The prime ministers became convinced that the Bolshevik government wishes to gain time in order to be able to take Warsaw and install a communist Polish government there. In view of this they considered measures dictated by the situation and instructed military experts to draw up a report, which is to be presented to them tomorrow morning. Strange, or a provocation? Among the dispatches about the conference in Hythe, P.A.T. sent us a telegram of the Havas agency of this content: "Polish and Bolshevik delegates will gather next Wednesday in Minsk, since it is desirable that they settle matters among themselves, without the participation of third persons". [...] A riddle hard to solve. There is probably some new Bolshevik machination in play here. Experience so far teaches that these people are capable of anything; it would therefore not be too glaring a nonsense even to suppose that they perhaps want to stage a comedy of negotiations with a "communist Polish government" which, according to the French papers, has just formed in Minsk with Marchlewski at its head. Soviet diplomacy has already allowed itself so many mockeries towards Europe that one could not be surprised at even such a monstrosity. To arms! The war-readiness section of the Academic League for the Defence of the State summons all women medical-student colleagues [...] to report to the muster on Tuesday, the 10th of this month, at 6 in the evening [...] Piotrków, 8 August. (P.A.T.) — Today a people's rally was held here on Kościuszko Square, called by the citizens' committee for the defence of the state with many thousands of people attending, at which speakers urged society to consolidate all its forces in order to repel the Bolshevik invasion of Poland. After the rally a collection was held for a wounded soldier. At 4 in the afternoon a detachment of volunteers left for the front, seen off by crowds of people. [...]
