Content note: 1930 front page that calls armed insurgents in the Ağrı (Ararat) region 'brigands', 'outlaws' and 'rebels' and reports their 'last resistance' being broken, using only the official dispatch. This object is shown as it was published. Why
Front page of the Istanbul daily. The banner headline calls the armed men in the Ağrı (Ararat) region 'şaki' (brigands) whose 'last resistance is being broken'; the item below prints an official dispatch calling them 'eşkıya' (outlaws) and 'asiler' (rebels), with no insurgent account. The left column is the editor's reply to opposition leaders in the Free Republican Party dispute.

[...] Siirt Meb'usu MAHMUT Fethi B. Akhisar ve Balıkesirde iki nutuk söyledi Bermutat iktisadî buhrandan bahsetti ve halka birçok vaitlerde bulundu Reşit Galip Bey S. C. Fırkasından niçin çekildi? Kanlar içinde boğuşmak için hiçbir sebep görmüyorum, İzmir tezahürlerinin şeklinden müteessirim Ben bundan sonra Mecliste müstakil kalacağım ve vicdanımın gösterdiği yol üzerinde yürüyeceğim
Milliyet SATURDAY 13 SEPTEMBER 1930 5th year, No 1649 COPY 5 KURUŞ Editor-in-chief: Siirt Deputy MAHMUT The brigands' last resistance too is being broken. Last resistance! The rebels' last resistance too has been broken The effort of our air and land forces is beyond all praise. ANKARA, 12 (A.A.) — All the attempts of the outlaws trapped in the Great Ararat (Ağrı) region to escape are coming to nothing, and their last resistance too is about to be broken. It has been established that the principal rebel chiefs of Ağrı are among them. The effort and heroism shown by our land and air forces is beyond all praise. I am not distorting; they are practising sophistry! I cannot in any way understand the meaning of so much agitation, of this degree of nervous irritability: in recent days, in some newspapers of Izmir and Istanbul, I have come under the attacks, each separately, of the Leader Fethi Bey and of Ağa oğlu Ahmet Bey: one accuses me of distortion, the other sets about calling me ignorant. [...] Siirt Deputy MAHMUT Fethi B. made two speeches at Akhisar and Balıkesir As usual he spoke of the economic crisis and made the people many promises Why did Reşit Galip Bey withdraw from the S.C. Party? I see no reason to grapple in blood; I am pained by the form of the Izmir demonstrations From now on I shall remain independent in the Assembly and walk the path my conscience shows
