Obverse of a 100-hryven state credit note dated 1918: a woman in embroidered national dress holding a sheaf and sickle and a man in a work apron leaning on a tool flank a wreath of fruit and flowers around a trident, under the legend 'Ukrainian People's Republic'. The tell is the paper's own message: national emblem, peasant and worker figures and a printed gold-content line ('1 hryven contains 8.712 parts of pure gold') are used to lend the new state's paper the standing of the coin it replaces.
