USA poster, Lincoln Memorial, Washington (Danish poster distributed in Copenhagen)

A black-and-white photograph of the seated Lincoln statue inside the Lincoln Memorial in Washington, D.C., with a small visitor at the right and the wall inscription visible above. A Danish caption identifies Lincoln as president 1861-65, notes the Civil War and his work for reconciliation and national unity, and quotes the inscription. The tell is transfer: Lincoln's standing and the memorial's solemnity are attached to the United States, alongside the ideal of unity.

IN THIS TEMPLE
AS IN THE HEARTS OF THE PEOPLE
FOR WHOM HE SAVED THE UNION
THE MEMORY OF ABRAHAM LINCOLN
IS ENSHRINED FOREVER

U.S.A.

Monumentet i Washington, D. C. for Abraham Lincoln, De Forenede Staters præsident
