A Vietnamese photo-news poster headed 'Viet Cong kill civilians'. Photographs show an overturned passenger bus, a woman kneeling by a covered body, a bus lying in a ditch, injured passengers on stretchers and in a hospital, and a gutted bus interior. The text names mine attacks on passenger buses on 22 March, 21 April and 3 May 1964 with stated casualties, and calls the Viet Cong blood-thirsty. The tell is name-calling and card-stacking: one side's attacks only are shown.

VIET CONG KILL CIVILIANS. [Caption, two pictures at side:] The Hiep-Huu bus on the road from Tan-Tru to Long-An was blown up by a Viet Cong mine on 22-3-1964 (left). The blood-thirsty act of the Viet Cong has shattered many families, children losing fathers and wives losing husbands (right). [Main text:] Having boasted of being the 'National Liberation Front of the South', the Viet Cong kill civilians with no regard for human life. To prove their crimes, below are pictures of three incidents in which the Viet Cong in succession mined and overturned buses, killing nearly a hundred innocent compatriots, mostly women and children. On 22-3-1964 at Tan-Tru the Hiep-Huu bus carrying passengers to the provincial town of Long-An was cowardly blown apart by a Viet Cong mine. Result: 23 died on the spot, including 6 small children and a woman about to give birth. On 21-4-1964 the Viet Cong again mined the Nam-Thanh bus travelling from Cau-Ngang to Vinh-Binh, killing two women, Nguyen-Thi-Hoa aged 46 and Trang-Thi-Thit aged 51; in addition 15 passengers, many of them women and children, were wounded. On 3-5-1964 it was the turn of the My-Hiep bus on the Kien-Binh to Moc-Hoa road, mined by the Viet Cong at Nhon-Hoa village, killing 13 on the spot and 1 on the way to hospital; twelve seriously wounded passengers had to be treated for many days. The more the Viet Cong pile up crimes, the more the Vietnamese people hate them and are determined to denounce them to the authorities. [Captions:] On the road from Kien-Binh district to Moc-Hoa the My-Hiep bus was also mined by the Viet Cong on 3-5-1964. After the mine exploded and the bus overturned, the Viet Cong hurriedly ran far away, Government personnel hurried over to give first aid. The Government does its utmost to treat these innocent compatriots, but human strength is limited: how can the wounds caused by the Viet Cong be healed? The Nam-Thanh bus after being mined by the Viet Cong near Mai-Huong hamlet on 21-4-1964.
