AIR FRONTS
HEINKEL BLAZES at a German airdrome after being raked by a strafing P-51 (like the one, shown inset, at its base in England). "Mustang" low-level attacks, though hazardous, cut deeply into what remains of the Luftwaffe.
HAVOC OVER NAZILAND. The trim, speedy A-20 light attack bomber strikes fast and hard, leaves one of Hitler's defenses billowing smoke, and gets out of there pronto,
TROOPS FROM YOUR PLANES cracked Nazi Europe first. Above, a C-47 and glider leave England. Below, the great transports circle over France. Although some gliders crashed in the tiny, difficult fields, C-47's did an expert hauling job.
MERCY PLANE. Giant C-54 hospital transport takes aboard her load of wounded among the palms of Makin Island. To men who went down fighting Japs the C-54 gives a big lift on the road back to life.
"BLACK WIDOW," the Army's deadly new night fighter. The "Widow" hunts down the enemy through the dark of night and blasts him with 20mm cannon and 50-caliber machine guns.
