A photo sheet in two parts. The upper part shows Republic of Vietnam artillery crews and 105mm guns, with captions on defence and unification; the lower part, headed 'Ban Me Thuot economic fair', shows the opening, American farm machinery, orchids, an elephant race and the president at a farm model. This is the Army of the Republic of Vietnam. Information Bulletin No. 6. Artillery. On the battlefield, artillery plays an important role in defence as well as counter-attack. The 105mm field guns proudly rear up against the free sky, displaying the strength of the Republican Army. The cannons seem to share the determination of the Republican fighter to defend freedom and unify the country. They wait, ready to fire and destroy the band of [Thực Phong Cộng]. The Republican serviceman learns to handle the field gun skilfully, so as not to betray the people's trust. The Republican fighters, with these huge cannons, are preparing to fire on the enemy and bring security and order to the people. BAN ME THUOT ECONOMIC FAIR The Ban Me Thuot economic fair was opened under the chairmanship of the President of the Republic of Vietnam. It has drawn tens of thousands of visitors to the fertile forest and mountain region of Free Vietnam. Modern American farm implements, which contribute to our agricultural recovery, are also displayed at the Fair. Graceful orchids, one of the special products of the Highlands, are a large source of income for the Highland people. Hundreds of elephants prepare for an exciting race organised by the Fair. The President takes special interest in the organisation of a modern farm in the Highlands, shown in miniature on a sand-table model.
Captions are small at the available resolution and were read from the image; the banner on the truck is only partly legible. 'Thực Phong Cộng' is transcribed and translated as printed.
