She Was Your Ship Too... Give Us Another Ship Like the Louisburg, Says Lt. Robert Jarvis R.C.N.V.R.
A reproduced typed letter on Department of National Defence Naval Service letterhead, signed by the surviving officer and two ratings of HMCS Louisburg, thanks the shipbuilders and asks for a replacement ship, with a portrait of Lt. Robert Jarvis and a photograph of the vessel. The testimonial is the named survivors' voice and signatures; the transfer is the borrowed authority of the navy letterhead and crest set beside the issuing department.

She was your Ship too... Department of National Defence Naval Service Ottawa, Canada. IN REPLY PLEASE QUOTE N.S. TO THE MEN WHO BUILT OUR SHIP By this time, you have all heard about the sinking through enemy action of our ship, "H.M.C.S. Louisburg". She was your ship too. You built her, but I was aboard when the enemy torpedoed her. About half of us were lucky enough to be saved. Now we want another ship from you. We are all anxious to get back at them for sinking us and taking about forty of the best fellows in the world out of the play. We tried our best to fight off the attack, but by luck or skill, they got us just at sundown with an aerial torpedo. The convoy proceeded under escort of other Canadian corvettes. It was a great ship you produced for us. It was our home and our friend. How soon can you deliver us another ship with as fine workmanship and as dependable at all times as the "Louisburg"? Thanks for the first ship and also for the second. You build 'em - we'll fight 'em. Commanding Officer Senior Surviving Officer Don Stewart Able Seaman James S. Hawes Stoker 1/C P.S. - Our Captain would have signed this letter had he not gone down with our ship. LT. ROBERT JARVIS R.C.N.V.R. H.M.C.S. LOUISBURG WENT DOWN FIGHTING! This Message is issued by the Department of Munitions and Supply for Canada GIVE US ANOTHER SHIP LIKE THE LOUISBURG Says LT. ROBERT JARVIS R.C.N.V.R.
