Content note: Poster panel showing a soldier in a red-star cap beating a small child, kept whole. This object is shown as it was published. Why
Contentment and Loathing (Chinese two-panel poster)
A two-panel Chinese-language poster split on a diagonal. Above, a smiling father, mother, baby and two playing children under the title 'contented'; below, a soldier in a red-star cap beats a small child under 'loathing'. The seal 'free people jointly build a free world' names the sponsor's side. Two single scenes stand for whole societies, so the poster argues by selection.
