A blue-bordered March 1965 Spanish photo bulletin of the U.S. Embassy in Costa Rica with a calendar. Photos show a water laboratory opened with A.I.D. cooperation, a park cornerstone ceremony in Tibás, teacher scholarships, an Inauguration Day cover for President Johnson, a Costa Rican rural electrification project, Voice of America prizes, trade and Peace Corps visits. The tell is transfer: the Alianza para el Progreso emblem and U.S. officials are attached to local projects.

EL CORREO GRAFICO BOLETIN PICTORICO DEL SERVICIO DE INFORMACION DE LA EMBAJADA DE LOS E.E.U.U. DE NORTE AMERICA El Servicio Nacional de Acueductos y Alcantarillados inauguró en Tres Ríos, a través del Programa de Alianza para el Progreso, uno de los mejores laboratorios de aguas existentes en la América Latina. Lo que por tantos años fue plaza pública y de deportes en San Juan de Tibás, quedará convertido en un bello parque, el cual se dará el nombre de Parque de la Democracia. Mediante un nuevo programa de actividades, iniciado por los Centros Culturales Costarricense-Norteamericanos, se concederán becas a maestros costarricenses. Es tradicional en los Estados Unidos editar sobres del servicio postal, conmemorativos de acontecimientos sobresalientes. El primer día de circulación de este sobre fue el 20 de enero de 1965, fecha en que asumió su alto cargo el Presidente Johnson. Diversas comunidades rurales de Costa Rica se están beneficiando al recibir, por primera vez, los servicios eléctricos suministrados por el Instituto Costarricense de Electricidad (ICE). La señorita Ligia Murillo, vecina de Tibás, aparece en esta foto al recibir los premios ofrecidos por "La Voz de los Estados Unidos de América" en su programa "Enfoque Mundial". Hace unas semanas estuvo en Costa Rica el señor Thomas Mann, Secretario Auxiliar de Estado, Encargado de los Asuntos Interamericanos. Visitó a Costa Rica una importante Misión Comercial procedente de Dallas, Texas. Al acercarse la anual Feria de las Flores, a beneficio del Hospital Nacional de Niños, los preparativos se van acelerando. OF NORTH AMERICA The National Service of Aqueducts and Sewers inaugurated in Tres Ríos, through the Alliance for Progress Programme, one of the best water laboratories existing in Latin America. What for so many years was a public square and sports ground in San Juan de Tibás will be turned into a beautiful park, which will be given the name Park of Democracy. Through a new programme of activities, initiated by the Costa Rican-North American Cultural Centers, scholarships will be granted to Costa Rican teachers. It is traditional in the United States to issue postal covers commemorating outstanding events. The first day of circulation of this cover was 20 January 1965, the date on which President Johnson assumed his high office. Various rural communities of Costa Rica are benefiting by receiving, for the first time, electrical services supplied by the Costa Rican Institute of Electricity (ICE). Miss Ligia Murillo, a neighbour of Tibás, appears in this photo receiving the prizes offered by "The Voice of America" in its programme "World Focus". A few weeks ago Mr. Thomas Mann, Assistant Secretary of State for Inter-American Affairs, was in Costa Rica. An important Trade Mission from Dallas, Texas, visited Costa Rica. As the annual Flower Fair approaches, in aid of the National Children's Hospital, preparations are speeding up.
