THE PEOPLE-PACIFYING CAMPAIGN BRINGS TRUST AND AFFECTION TO THE RURAL PEOPLE OF GIA DINH PROVINCE Alongside the operations to destroy the enemy and protect the rural people, the Civil Affairs team, made up of information, Chieu Hoi, rural construction and psychological warfare cadres of the Gia Dinh Sub-Sector, coordinated activities in the new-life hamlets of Tan Dien, Phuoc Thoi, Long Dai, Tam Da, Phu Huu, Cau Xup, Tan Lap, Phuoc Lai, Phuoc Hiep and Ong Nhieu, in five eastern villages of Thu Duc district, from 28-9-1966 to 7-10-66. The team used helicopters to transport food to help the people, such as cooking oil, canned milk, soap, American rice, toothpaste, baby powder, old clothes, bread, lemon candy, etc. The team also examined 1,062 people and handed out 16,975 pills to treat seasonal illnesses.
