News in Pictures poster, No. 5 (Arabic, Beirut)
An Arabic fold-out photo sheet with six captioned news photographs: U.S. grain flown to famine areas of Somalia, a Nigerian Ibo dictionary project, American students singing with Nigerian children, a White House party for orphans, African ambassadors at the UN and students rebuilding a burned church in Mississippi. The tell is card-stacking: aid and goodwill stories are selected, with the White House and Operation Crossroads Africa attached as markers of American good intent.
