Principles of the Prohibition party
Black-and-white lithograph. Portraits of the Prohibition ticket, Clinton B. Fisk and John A. Brooks, sit in medallions above two views of a town: on one side "Our desire", with a church, a Sunday school and a camp meeting, and on the other "Present situation", with a prison, an insane asylum, saloons and a wine and brewing company. Setting two chosen scenes against each other is selection (card-stacking), and tying the saloon to prison and asylum stages harm to be averted by the party's programme (fear-appeal).
