Re-TIRE in TIME: Help U.S. Save Tires!
Instruction sheet on when to send worn tires for reconditioning. Three tread photographs are labelled 'Too soon', 'Too late' and 'Just right', with a strip of further examples and a grinning soldier cartoon above 'Help U.S. Save Tires!'. It is mostly practical; the only persuasive device is the SAVE emblem and the Army's authority lent to the advice (transfer, faint).

Text on the object
Re-TIRE in TIME TOO SOON TO Re-TIRE The tread is still raised slightly near the center. Run farther before removing for reconditioning. TOO LATE TO Re-TIRE This is gross negligence. The tire is worn beyond repair. Never wear down to the cord body of a tire. JUST RIGHT TO Re-TIRE The tread is worn down smoothly near the center. This is the right time to remove for reconditioning. [emblem:] U.S. ARMY SAVE CONSERVATION PROGRAM Remove These Tires.-Note how treads are just beginning to disappear in the center. These tires are worn exactly the right amount for reconditioning. If a tire is removed too soon, it has to be placed back in service before it can be reconditioned. If removed too late, it can't be reconditioned and is ruined. Remove This Tire (left).-Note how cut extends into the cord body. When tire cords can be seen due to cuts or wear, remove the tire for reconditioning immediately. Rotate This Tire (right)-When treads cup or wear irregularly, rotate the tire to a different wheel position. Check wheel alignment if front tires wear irregularly. HELP U.S. SAVE TIRES!
