'Bullets and cannon too, from savings': munitions price spread, Shashin Shūhō No. 225
A two-page photo spread in the government picture weekly, issued for the 23-billion-yen savings week. Four panels price a torpedo (about 30,000 yen), a medium tank (about 150,000), a heavy shell (about 200) and a 500-kilo bomb (about 2,000), each over the line 'the torpedo (tank, shell, bomb) we made' and 'Make more!', with a photo of the weapon above and of a sunk ship, wrecked vehicles or burning targets below. The prestige of the claimed victories is attached to a household savings purchase (transfer).
