Share the meat: a pledge of cooperation
Newspaper-style advertising sheet with an Uncle Sam figure sawing a large cut of meat under a 'Share the Meat' shield, beside a four-point pledge of cooperation. The surrounding ruled boxes are blank, left for local firms to print their names. Uncle Sam lends national authority to the shopkeepers' pledge.

Text on the object
SHARE THE MEAT A Pledge of Cooperation... Our government has asked 128,000,000 Americans not in uniform to share the meat fairly and squarely ... It is something we all can do ... and be glad to do ... The firms listed on this page pledge their fullest cooperation in aiding the shoppers of this city in making the most of meat. We pledge: 1. To help you plan your meat buying so as to spread the good nutrition and good flavor of meat over the entire week. 2. To teach you a wider range of meat cuts so you can prepare delicious and nutritious meat dishes from the cuts available from day to day. 3. To suggest to you nonrestricted meats (liver, liver sausage, ox joints, bacon squares, kidneys, etc., when they are available) so as to help you supplement your share. 4. To pass on whatever information we have on the extension of meat by combining it with other good foods, and the purchase of meat with the idea of leftovers in mind. We pledge to do everything in our power to help make the available meat supply "go around"--to help everyone to stay within his own fair share. [The ruled boxes around the pledge are blank.]
