Cam Ranh: New Land of Promise
A vertical photo-sheet (code SP-1238) reports that 150 families, 832 people, left Viet Cong-disturbed areas of Phu Yen province for Cam Ranh, carried by a U.S. ship from Tuy Hoa, with photographs of loading, the crowded deck, a birth on board and the landing. The text lists what the government promises (shelter, six months of rice, land plots, roofing and 3,500 piastres) and says Cam Ranh needs at least 8,000 boatbuilders but has 3,500. The sheet presents relocation as opportunity and offers jobs and hope as the outcome, with the movement of people described only as a voluntary departure.
