Horizontal War Savings Stamps chart: a grid of 25-cent-stamp and bond price equivalents for equipment (steel helmet, Garand rifle, jeep, parachute) with a hand holding a stamp album, ringed by rank insignia and short captions on Doolittle, MacArthur and Navy heroes. Each item pairs a small purchase with a named piece of kit, a card-stacking list of concrete benefits, with named officers and a quoted presidential line as testimonial.

1 25c Stamp will pay for ONE MONTH'S FEED FOR ONE CARRIER PIGEON. A carrier pigeon eats about a pound of grain a week. His message capsule costs the Army about 12 1/2c.
106 $18.75 War Bonds will pay for 1 L4A LIAISON PLANE. The Army's L4A Liaison and Courier Ship is the familiar "Cub" in war paint. It can do artillery spotting, or carry messages in and out of places no big ship can go.
4 $18.75 Bonds will pay for 1 GARAND RIFLE. With the modern self-loading Garand, an infantryman can fire 60 shots a minute, up to an effective range of 3,500 yards.
6 25c Stamps will pay for 1 HAND-GRENADE. Thanks to baseball, American soldiers know how to make good use of hand-grenades. Help send them plenty.
1 25c Stamp will pay for FILM FOR AN AERIAL PHOTOGRAPH. Aerial photographs help record damage done the enemy, and bring back invaluable information to guide future action.
3 10c Stamps will pay for 2 SANDBAGS. The Army's sandbag is 16" by 24", made of mildew-proof burlap. When filled, it will stop any type of rifle or machine-gun bullet.
27 25c Stamps will pay for 1 BLANKET. The blanket you pay for may go to Iceland, Alaska or elsewhere - snug sleeping comfort for an American soldier somewhere.
37 25c Stamps will pay for 1 GAS MASK. Gas strikes without warning - the enemy has already used it in China - the mask you pay for may save a soldier's life.
2 10c Stamps will pay for GAS FOR SELF-INFLATING LIFEBELT. The carbon dioxide in these capsules expands 450 times. Belts like these saved the crew of the Lexington.
10 $18.75 Bonds will pay for 1 LIFE FLOAT. This modern Navy "float" saves ten, and its balsa wood buoyancy is unaffected by capsizing, splintering or shell fragments.
20 25c Stamps will pay for AVIATION 1 FIRST AID KIT. 500 bullets recently riddled an American plane - and still she brought her crew safe home. First aid in flight helped every man get quickly into action again.
8 $18.75 Bonds will pay for 1 SUB-MACHINE GUN. The Thompson sub-machine gun ("tommy gun") can be fired from shoulder or hip at the rate of 600 shots a minute.
22 25c Stamps will pay for 1 PUP TENT. Provides two soldiers with a snug, dry place to sleep. The tent divides so that on the march each man can carry half.
1 25c Stamp will pay for A CLIP OF BULLETS. 8 bullets per clip for Garand @ 2.9c each. In the end, it's the business talk from thousands of rifles which determines who holds a given piece of ground.
20 25c Stamps will pay for 1 BAYONET. When not in place on the rifle muzzle, a bayonet has a hundred uses - is as versatile as a trapper's sheath-knife.
1 Completely filled stamp book will pay for 1 "WALKIE-TALKIE". "Walkie talkie" is the name given the two-way radio that a man can carry on his chest, and through which he can talk with head-quarters.
