Making Revolutionary Development Work
A portrait-format sheet (code SP-1217) profiles a village chairman and a volunteer dispensary worker in Trung An village, An-Giang province, with five black-and-white photographs. A first-person quote says the officials listened and agreed to the villagers' requests for schools, roads, electricity and water, and a caption says the chairman's house was burned by the communists in 1945. The tell is the named local voices: ordinary villagers testify in their own words to the programme, and the footer carries the slogan 'Today: Revolutionary Development in An-Giang. Tomorrow: throughout Vietnam.'

We told the government officials that we need schools, roads, electricity and water... The officials not only listened to us but also agreed with us. This has great importance for us, the people of Trung An village. CARRYING OUT REVOLUTIONARY DEVELOPMENT Mr. Ho Huu Ngan, Chairman of Trung An village, a village of 18,600 people, is very enthusiastic about Revolutionary Development because he has seen the great benefit of the work for the people. He has himself tasted the destruction of the Viet Cong. His own house was burned and wrecked by the Communists in 1945 and the damaged part is still there, a sad memento reminding everyone. But there is still much work to improve life in Trung An village. One of the devoted enthusiasts is Mr. Nguyen Dinh Hau. He serves the people of Trung An village and the neighbouring Trung Nhat village at a dispensary set up within a maternity house run by a government midwife. Mr. Hau is looking after a baby at the dispensary. [I go with] Mr. Hau to visit neighbours and instruct them in hygiene and disease prevention. TODAY: REVOLUTIONARY DEVELOPMENT IN AN-GIANG TOMORROW: THROUGHOUT VIETNAM SP-1217
Read from the image. The caption 'Tôi đến ông Hậu viếng bà con lối xóm...' is printed so; it reads as a first-person caption in which the speaker accompanies Mr. Hau, rendered with bracketed '[I go with]'. 'Đều này' is printed so (for 'Điều này').
